| Abstract | In our paper, we shall use the term 'polluant' or 'contaminant' to denote dissolved chimical species which are carried with the water, and accumulate in the aquifers, without inferring that concentration have necessarily reached dangerous levels. In most cases, these chemical species have been introduced into the subsurface as result of human activities at ground surface. Concentration may be sufficiently high as to render the water unfit for certain usage (e.g., drinking water and irrigation). The factors which govern the migration of contaminant in groundwater can be considered in terms of transport processes and attenuation processes. Both numerical simulations and field experiments are indispensable tools for the study of water flow and contaminant transport in aquifers. |
