| Abstract | This study tries to answer some questions that are presented in the problem of epistemological and methodological order, respectively: how Art can be considered a source of knowledge for Mathematics in a teaching perspective and In what dimension Art can contribute to a Mathematics teaching methodology that incorporates aesthetic aspects of Mathematics? The study was carried out in Education Science and Mathematics Pos-Graduation Program, in Federal University of Parana, in the line of research: Mathematics Education and Interdisciplinarity. It has the objective to get theoretical resources to strengthen the interdisciplinar relation between Mathematics and Art, or rather, Mathematics and Aesthetic (the science of sensible knowledge).This work is theoretical in nature and the methodology we built, in brief, was the following: after a detailed reading of Herbert Read's works, especially "The Redemption of Robot: my meeting with education through art", we identified some keywords such as education, art, aesthetics, imagination, intuition, reason, emotion, among others, we seek making them clear and then bring them to the field of Mathematics Education, noting, of course, if such adaptation makes sense. If so, we seek to expand the concept within that field for a construction of "Mathematics Education through Art". So, we intend in this work, to establish relationships between Mathematics and Art, as well as to emphasize the importance to ascend the Mathematics knowledge through the process that involves, besides the reason, also the sensibility in the field of this discipline which are related to intuition, imagination, spontaneity, liberty and criativity. Moreover, we still emphasize the importance to give the opportunity to the aesthetic experience and permit this sensibilization from this experience. The expectative is that this work can also contribute to strength the interdisciplinarity between Art and Mathematics, aiming the teaching of the last one, appealing to its aesthetics capacities. |
