| Abstract | The medieval theme has been a constant in the world of comics since the appearance of Foster’s Prince Valiant. The comic is not different in this from other communicative and artistic media with broad diffusion, such as the cinema or the novel. It is easy to identify mutual influences between theme. In the same way as these media, the comic has not been freed from the topical view of the Middle Ages that society has. It can be found comics with Medieval atmosphere, where Middle Age is a mere stage due to its exoticism and mysterious appeal. On the other hand, there are historical comics, which claim to be more reliable, with varying degrees of verisimilitude. The latter can be used for the teaching of history, but they tend to be boring because of the accumulation of data, losing the entertaining comic essence. The article also presents a brief overview of the main titles set in the Middle Ages. |
