| Abstract | Brain-Computer Interfaces projects have been highlighted in the Biomedical Engineering community over the last decade, due to improvements in computational resources and Machine Learning algorithms and also due to the diverse applications these systems may provide to the users. However, the researches presented in the literature still present barriers preventing general public use of these systems, either by limits in practicity or efficacy. In this paper we propose a study about Brain Computer Interfaces, presenting the basic concepts needed for its implementation and understanding how they work. A practical project was also elaborated and evaluated using a Motor Imagery electroencephalogram database, testing a recently proposed method which had not been utilized for this purpose yet, with the aim to expand the researches in this field. Results show that there is plenty of tests yet to be made with this method, and that the definition of the hyperparameters values of the algorithm is the most difficult task of implementation of this model of Brain-Computer Interface. |
