| Abstract | Objectives: To show that association is a management model that makes it possible produce and adds value to each link in the value chain in cotton business developed in Ica, Peru. Method: A deep interview to four cotton business which represent the highest positions in management, by using a structured guide with four main purposes: a) To determine the importance of added value in raw materials (cotton). b) To identify the use of negotiation tools and applied finances. c) To analyze the most well known management models according to interviewees’ experiences. d) To state profitability of cotton business in Ica valley. Results: The hypothesis was supported. Conclusions: A model of association management applied in the Peruvian context (Ica) takes into account the integration of small business owners or growers to obtain benefits in a scale economy (low costs of production, marketing, a better position during negotiations, shared risks, more profitability, among others). |
