| Abstract | This senior thesis provides a brief overview of the author’s experience as a translator in an internationalization project. The experience was an opportunity of gaining a deeper understanding of the characteristics and editorial processes of a Brazilian academic journal, Letras & Letras, supported by the graduate programs in Linguistics and Literature at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. The internationalization process of the journal’s website, which was in Brazilian Portuguese only, aimed initially to have it translated in order to broaden the journal’s impact factor by allowing the attraction of foreign authors and their publication in English. In an attempt to reflect upon what has been learnt during the translation process, this thesis takes a functionalist approach to analyze some source and translated excerpts from the journal’s website. |
