Abstract	A mediacao social e um tema que nos ultimos anos vem ganhando espaco nas discussoes sobre o desenvolvimento rural, mais especificamente, nas questoes referentes a intervencao para o desenvolvimento. Este processo compreende uma relacao que se apresenta como uma “via de mao dupla”, ou seja, a via representa a relacao, uma das maos e os mediadores, e a outra e os mediados. Portanto, no processo de mediacao ha reflexos para todos os lados, tanto mediadores como mediados afetam e sao afetados pelo processo. A mediacao pode ser compreendida como um conjunto de saberes, ideias, valores, crencas, conhecimentos, modos de comportamento e visoes de mundo que sao transmitidas com o objetivo de construcao de novas posicoes e identidades. A mediacao se ancora no reconhecimento de um saber-fazer por parte dos mediados e na troca de conhecimentos ou saberes tecnicos e cientificos com mediadores. Este artigo objetiva compreender a mediacao social, justamente porque se tem dado pouca importância a este tema e a reflexao critica sobre o trabalho realizado por profissionais especializados na mediacao relacionada a extensao e ao desenvolvimento rural. Para isso, primeiramente, sera feita uma breve exposicao sobre o tema da mediacao social, destacando seu conceito, objetivo e composicao. Num segundo momento, apresenta-se tres abordagens teoricas e se estabelece uma analise comparativa das mesmas, identificando-se as potencialidades e os possiveis usos de tais concepcoes. A compreensao da mediacao realizada por tecnicos vinculados a instituicoes atraves da analise da intervencao social podera permitir o desvelar dessas acoes e evitar simplificacoes sobre a propria mediacao. ----------------------------------------The social mediation is a theme that in the last years it comes winning space in the discussions on the rural development, more specifically, in the referring subjects to the intervention for the development. This process understands a relationship that comes as a " road of two-way ", that is to say, the road represents the relationship, one of the hands is the mediators, and the other is they mediated. Therefore, in the mediation process there are reflexes for all the sides, so much mediators as having mediated affect and they are affected for the process. The mediation can be understood as a group of you know, ideas, values, faiths, knowledge, manners of behavior and world visions that are transmitted with the objective of construction of new positions and identities. The mediation is anchored in the recognition of a to know-do on the part of mediated them and in the change of knowledge or you know technicians and scientific with mediators. This article objectifies to understand the social mediation, exactly because given little importance is had to this theme and the critical reflection on the work accomplished by professionals specialized in the mediation related to the extension and the rural development. For that, firstly, it will be made a brief exhibition on the theme of the social mediation, highlighting its concept, objective and composition. In a second moment, it comes three theoretical framework and it settles down a comparative analysis of the same ones, identifying the potentialities and the possible uses of such conceptions. The understanding of the mediation accomplished by linked technicians the institutions through the analysis of the social intervention can allow the to watch of those actions and to avoid simplifications about the own mediation.
