| Abstract | Culture and economy have always been related, that’s how the relevance of the first is given by its relation to the economy, which can't be understood either, without the influence of the culture. However, the fast-paced global transformation has given even more relevance and impact to this crucial link, and as a result, the culture has passed from being a strictly traditional and entertainment element to be understood as an economic resource, seeking the full use of identities in order to contribute to the development of societies at an economic, social, and political level. Recent trends of global development have allowed the arts, culture and intellectual abilities to be placed in the forefront of this dynamic. In this way, the traditional industries have been displaced rapidly by industries that have intellectual capital as the main resource. That’s why economies that understood this dynamic are reflecting the highest levels of productivity, growth, and competitiveness, as, in the case of the UK and China, countries where the development is being promoted by the services industries, and have been set as a reference to consolidate comprehensive and sustainable economies in other countries. Taking into account the above, this research studies two economies in which the creative industries have set the standard, and compares them with the Colombian case, where these industries are in a process of growth, in order to establish tactics that could be apply at the local level to enhance the development of these in the country. The UK and China are projecting higher levels of production, growth and competitiveness and have been set up as a reference to consolidate comprehensive and sustainable economies in other countries, largely because service industries are pushing development. |
