| Abstract | Today, the physical therapy is one of the principal tools in the treatment and recovery of patients in critical conditions, because our labour it’s not only limited to the treatment of patient inside the unit of intensive care; also we must watching for improve the conditions in which this patient will come back to the daily life. This study has been made for watching, describe, and analize the behaviour of hemodinamics and ventilatory measurements in a group of critical patients at moment of applyng the Verticalitation Tolerance Test (VTT). The measurements were made in a group of 51 patients belong of the Critical Patients Unit (CPU) of the Clinical Hospital of Universidad de Chile, between months of June and October 2005. The test applied consist in sitting for first time, after the entry to this unit, in the edge of bed during six minutes period and measure their cardiac rates, systolic arterial pressures, dyastolic arterial pressures, mean arterial pressures, respiratory rates, oxygen saturate and fatigue subjective sensation. The measurement was made in one, three and six minutes of the test. The results (mean +/standard deviation) in the rest, first, third and sixth minute were the next: Cardiac Rate: 89 +/15.16; 91.84 +/14.65; 94.4 +/14.9; 95.3 +/15.76. Medium Arterial Pressure: 94.4 +/14.3; 95 +/13.3; 96.4 +/15.2; 97+/14.4. Systolic arterial pressure: 139.5 +/26.9; 145.1 +/31; 139.7 +/25.4; 139.2 +/24.6 Dyastolic arterial pressure: 70.5 +/11.5; 71.5 +/11.5; 74 +/13; 74+/13. Oxygen Saturate: 95.7 +/2.1; 94.6 +/3; 95.4 +/2.2; 95 +/2.3. Respiratory Rate: 23 +/6; 26+/7; 24 +/6; 24 +/6. Fatigue Subjective Sensation: 3.4 +/2.75; 3.1 +/2.1; 4.2 +/2.3; 4.4 +/2.4. There is relation between major quantity of bed day and utilization of major reserve cardiac rate percentage by the patients during the VTT. Only one patient couldn’t finish the VTT, due to present one criterion end (overpassed the 30 % of his cardiac reserve). The reserve cardiac rate percentage maximum utilized was 11%, and was registred in the |
