| Abstract | The society discusses much about the question of the importance and the lack of leaders in the community. We are in a time of transformation in the areas of communication, information and management that requires professionals from different sectors have a pro-active and dynamic. This paper proposes a conversation with renowned authors in the area of Leadership and People Management from the perspective of the librarian, thus verifying the professional profile and how that fits the figure of leader. The cut chosen for the study was the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, more specifically, all 32 libraries that make up your network. The results reflect that the chief librarians feel comfortable as leaders and motivators, being held by the team that confirms the positive view of their managers, also shows that continuing education in this area is flawed. There were exceptions, and even with a most positive, only nine units had 100% approval of the heads of the team. Also included are necessary courses, studies and incentives in the area of leadership applied to librarianship, since there is little material of this thematic. |
