| Abstract | Cinema has been used as an effective communicative strategy in a number of teaching situations, since it allows to reflect, in a realistic environment, the characteristics of a specific situation. The present study is qualitative with a descriptive focus and employs the film forum as a didactic strategy for education in communicative and affective competencies for citizenship. This study was performed with 73 students of the Philosophy and History of Life Values subject, from the Faculty of Health Sciences in the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira, during 2012. The content of this subject is based on the knowledge of ethics, morality and human values and the theoretic basis of these concepts. This subject pretends that students achieve competencies to express themselves with autonomy and to identify different types of human values, traditions and beliefs from other cultural and social backgrounds. 11 drama films were chosen, which were assigned to 3-student groups. The films were watched by each group and then they were presented to the whole group in a creative way employing different activities, tools and methods with the goal of giving to all the students elements to understand the essence of the film and facilitate an approach to reality with a definite intentionality. This process allows to understand some social, cultural, politic, religious and economic aspects from different cultures and to grab conceptual tools toward reflection in a clear and participative way. |
