| Abstract | The use of robot manipulators in industrial applications to reduce human exposure at risk, or even with the objective of maximizing a production process, promotes the need for a continued advance technological development in robotics. However, this technology is not feasible in research environments, such as in university laboratories, due to the high cost and complexity of equipment, limiting the diffusion of knowledge in small business and in educational institutions. In this context, the project aimed to the development of a robot manipulator with five degrees of freedom, Pinocchio 5 DOF controlled via graphical interface and serial communication, low cost and low complexity, to be used for educational purposes. For the construction of the robot, a mechanical project was executed based on an open source configuration, an electronic project, with the use of servomotors driven by a driver with serial communication, and software, with the use of MATLAB and Pololu Maestro Control Center, for development of graphical user interfaces, programming and setup of the servo controllers. The Pinocchio 5 DOF showed adequate performance in movements, perfect condition and operation, through the electronic hardware and ease operation, using the software developed. Thus, it was possible to conclude from the results obtained, the feasibility of developing a robot manipulator with five degrees of freedom and low cost to improve the diffusion of robotics in teaching environment. |
