| Abstract | For the implementation of selective collection in a municipality, several studies are needed , including , knowledge of the qualitative composition of municipal solid waste generated . This study aimed to carry out a characterization of solid waste generated in the St. George neighborhood located in Uberlândia / MG, which allowed us to know the fraction of recoverable materials in lixo.A methodology followed the NBR 10007/04 guidelines. The amount of recyclable material is approximately 23.8%. It concludes that, even informal, selective collection held by collectors in the neighborhood is representative, as the largest economic value of recyclable (aluminum cans and plastic bottles) were not identified in the sample. |
