The Political Rights of Women (from the wealthbased suffrage to parity democracy) This article discusses the evolution of the political participation of women in Hispano-America and in the world, since the enactment of the Constitution of Cadiz (1812), the legality of which prevented them from enjoying their civil rights, the conditions imposed on them by patriarchy and ideology of domesticity, to the current situation, after having been internationally recognized political rights as their key challenges are to achieve gender equality and the establishment of parity. |
