| Abstract | This research is based on the concepts about organizational and managerial competences. It was developed following the logic that organizational competences are grounded on managerial competences. The main objective of this research is to study the application of organizational and managerial competence management in an autarchy, in tune with its corporate strategy. The study was divided in various stages, as strategic directions analysis, organizational competence development, managerial competence development, and study about the main necessary competence resources. The study was carried out at the Port of Itajai, in the town of Itajai, Santa Catarina. The methodology used was a qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews with the managers and users involved in the port environment, documental research and direct observation. In the end, we come to the conclusion that the application of organizational and managerial competence concepts in public companies is viable, however, with restrictions on employees' hiring and remuneration policies, due to the laws governing public employment. |
