| Abstract | Shape localization and segmentation from initial samples require to combine both statistical and morphological analysis of the image. The statistic analysis amis ai local calculation of the similarity of the image to the model; the morphological analysis comes to supplement this analysis by allowing to take into account the geometrical information to finalize the localization and the segmentation. The studied images are vectorial or mufti valued images: color images, mufti modality images. . . The transformation from scalar to multivalued image raises fundamental difficulties, in particular for the morphological analysis which requires to have a total order on the defined values. The majority of the operators defined in the scalar case do not fend immediate equivalent in the vectorial case. Working from a sample makes allows to resolve the situation, each element of the multivalued image can bc ordered according to its similarity to the sample. The bayesian classifier is an optimal solution to exploit the statistical data coming from a sample. So, it is proposed, to carry out the morphological analysis of a mufti valued image in three times. Initially, the multivalued data are ordered in the similarity space; the result is a scalar image of rank. The morphological analysis is done in the similarity space, on the rank image. In the third time, the reversible character of the rank transformation permits to re express all the transformations carried out on the rank image in the original vectorial representation. Applications on colour images and medical images are presented. An open source library "vmorph" is also proposed to extend morphological operators to vectors. |
