| Abstract | The rocket is a source of vitamins and minerals that has antioxidant action. With the objective of analyzing the effect of salicylic acid and saline stress in rocket, grown in a semi-hydroponic system. The experiment was carried out from May to November, 2015, in a greenhouse at the Federal Rural Semi-Arid University, Mossoró, RN, Brazil. The plants cultivated in coconut fiber were conditioned in PVC ducts and fertirrigated with saline solution (3.5 dS m) and foliar application of salicylic acid (0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 mM), Besides a control treatment (standard nutrient solution). The following variables were evaluated: height, leaf area, fresh mass and dry mass. Data analysis showed that the use of saline water in the preparation of the nutrient solution causes a reduction in all variables analyzed. In addition, it was found that salicylic acid has potential as a mitigating agent for the deleterious effect of salinity on arugula growth. KEYWORD: Eruca sativa. Saline Stress. Hydroponics |
