| Abstract | Oil is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons; it is the basis of the creation of multiple products that are essential to us. However, this one must undergo several important transformations in order to obtain deferentes petroleum cuts such as the essences, the kerosene, the gas oil and the residue. Mineral oil is one of the byproducts of crude oil, it is obtained from the residue of the atmospheric distillation by applying several processes (vacuum distillation, deasphalting, dearomatization ...). Then, it is improved by addition of a package of additives to obtain a lubricating oil which responds to several important functions in the engine. The objective of our study is to describe the different stages of petroleum refining. On the other hand, to characterize three most used motor oils in Algeria (Naftal Chiffa / Chelia, Total Maxima RLD, Total Rubia TIR 7400); compare their properties, in the interest of contributing to a better knowledge of the quality of commercial motor oils for diesel heavy vehicles. Spectroscopic analyzes have shown that the structure of the engine oil is very complex with the presence of several additives in HMTA and HMTF. The results obtained from the physicochemical characterization showed several differences between the properties of the three oils, which are related to their chemical compositions, to the treatment processes undergone during the refining and to the added additives. |
