Abstract	Paying attention to the demands generated from the global competition, organizations have realized the importance of developing Information Technology (IT) actions, always concerned to promote organization's strategic objectives, as a way to obtain benefits for their business. Studies of Tribunal de Contas da Uniao, with organizations/agencies of the Brazil's Federal Public Administration ( APF ), showed significant disparity between the importance given to the organization's strategic planning as a whole and its IT strategic planning and resulted in the creation of an improvement induction process in IT governance. This caused a certain change of scenery, but there is still a long way to go to get close to ideal. Given the difficulty of finding models to assess the maturity level of IS/IT strategic planning, Texeira Filho (2010) proposed – building on the expirience coming from maturity models - a model to assess the level of maturity of IS / IT strategic planning in brazilian governmental organizations, called Modelo de Maturidade para Planejamento Estrategico de SI/TI – MMPE SI/TI (Gov). This model was established in accordance with the main procedures and national / international standards used for defining and evaluating processes. It is composed of: a Reference Model (MR), an Assessment Method (MA) and a Best Practices Repository (BMP) set to assist in developing the organization's improvement plan. It was validated by experts and applied in two organizations, both belonging to the Government of Pernambuco. In order to continue the evaluation of applicability of the model in the governmental sphere, this work aims to analyze the maturity of IS/IT strategic planning processes in the Ceara State Government and identify improvement opportunities to the Assessment Method (MA) of the model. Although few institutions have been evaluated, it is understood that some practices os Ceara's Governement have promoted the achievement of a greater degree of maturity of the IS / IT government organizations strategic planning processes. In addition, the review and detailing of the activities developed in MMPE SI/ TI (Gov) Assessment Method (MA) and the rearrangement and creation of documents to support the application of the method allowed suggest enhances to the model.
