| Abstract | Introduction: The neuropsychological advances allow to evidence how important is to develop the cerebral dominance in order to get a proper brain function as well as optimizing the learning and process acquisition levels such as the reading one. Objective: To study the relation between the development on the laterality and the reading processes effectiveness of the first and second grade students at Nuevo Gimnasio School. Methodology: The Neuropsychological Test of Laterality (adapted by Martin Lobo, P., Garcia -Castellon, C., Rodriguez I., Vallejo, C. (2011), from the team of the Institute of Neuropsychology and Education, Fomento) was applied and also the small version of the Test of Cuetos, F., Rodriguez B., Ruano E., and Arribas, D. (2009) PROLEC-R (Assessment Battery Readers Process, Revised), to a group 30 students of the age between 6 and 8 years old. Results: The results show the level in the sample with defined laterality is just 43% against to the 57% from the ones who have undefined laterality. There is a positive correlation between laterality establishment and the reading processes, especially on the grammatical and semantic ones. Conclusions: A proposal is created to have an intervention that allows to benefit the laterality establishment with the aim to improve the reading processes on the population in both levels grammatical and semantic ones. |
