| Abstract | A Touch Automation Módule was created in the industrial Control Laboratory in the mechanical engineering school of the polytechnic University in Riobamba, Ecuador for the purpose of student practice in the area of automation with PLC and HMI. The following objectives were adopted: the identification of technical characteristics and operation of equipment which are considered fundamental aspects such as design and wiring, protection and safety to safeguard the student’s life, and acceptable materials that are based on previous designs, ergonomics, stability and aesthetics. Control circuits were designed and power and protections devices were distributed in the control panel. Electrical installation standards were used for proper operation. The equipment required adequate programing and communication. TIA / portal V11 software was used from a previous installation which was transferred via communication interface. The practice verified correct operation, and control circuit, power and protection testing. A laboratory manual, a maintenance task bank, and student study notes were developed. It is recommended to use proper procedures to maintain the optimum installation, in order to prevent damage and extended the life of the equipment. |
