| Abstract | Silage is an interesting technology for the supplementation of ruminants in the country, due to the great variety of forages, high temperatures and the level of rainfall that exists in the Colombian tropics, standing out in the case of totumo (Crescentia cujete) and the mango (Mangifera indica) for its wide distribution in the low tropic as well as being sources rich in sugars. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of supplementation with silages of Bellucia grossularioides, Crescentia cujete and Mangifera indica on the in vitro digesticity, degradability, production and composition of milk, body condition in dairy cows of the tropics. The work was carried out in the farm Florida 2 in the village of Okal in the municipality of Puerto Boyacá, located in the north-eastern part of Magdalena medio, whose coordinates correspond to N 5o.837.5 'O 74o.340.83', 32 cows were used multiparous dual purpose (F1 Gyr x Holstein crosses), distributed in four (4) groups of eight (8) each, the treatments were organized as follows: T1 control group: without silage supplementation; T2 :with Guayabo de monte silage (Bellucia grossularioides); T3: with Totumo silage (Crescentia cujete) and T4: with Common Mango silage (Mangifera indica). All cows remained in a grazing system rotated with Brachiaria decumbens, water at will and mineralized salt. The results of production and nutritional quality of the milk did not show significant differences between the treatments evaluated, however the percentage of protein in milk increased (P <0.05) in the T4 compared with the other treatments, the consumption of dry matter of the silages and associated to the corporal |
