Abstract	RESUMEN El presente articulo busca analizar el funcionamiento del sistema bancario y su relacion con los usuarios respecto a las oportunidades de crecimiento que estas entidades brindan, indagando acerca de los principios y valores que se manejan en ellas y que relacion y compromiso tienen con la ciU000xdada;nia. Para esto, se revisan los aspectos que caracterizan la banca convencional, la banca etica, el comercio justo y el consumo responsable, en relacion al beneficio economico y la intermediacion financiera; aspectos que contribuyen al analisis de la banca en terminos de justicia, igualdad y responsabilidad para la participacion ciU000xdada;na. ABSTRACT This article seeks to analyze the functioning of the banking system and its relationship with users regarding the growth opportunities that these entities provide, inquiring about the related principles and values as well as the relationship and commitment they have with citizens. To this end, the characteristics of conventional banking, banking ethics, fair trade and responsible consumption, in relation to economic benefit and financial intermediation are reviewed, all aspects which will contribute to the analysis of banks in terms of justice, equality and accountability for citizen participation.
