| Abstract | The present investigation arises from the need to use dynamic strategies to improve the low level of reading comprehension presented by elementary school students in our region. The objective of the research was to demonstrate that the application of the program "Reading to learn" helps to improve reading comprehension in 4th grade students of primary education of the I.E. No. 65058-2018; the type of study was explanatory, the design of the quasi-experimental research, with pretest and post-test with a single working group, the sample consisted of 160 students, a multiplechoice reading response test was used as an instrument open, which was applied as a pre and post test the same that was subjected to a process of validation and reliability, the method used was analytical synthetic. For the hypothesis test the Student's T-statistic was used, the results were: in the reading comprehension in the pre-test the experimental group (15.6%) were found in the Beginning level, while in the post-test the experimental group (48, 2%) was found at satisfactory level. It was concluded that the application of the program "Reading to learn" helps significantly in the improvement of reading comprehension in the children of the 4th grade of primary education, confirmed by the hypothesis test t> 0.05 of significance; likewise, at the literal, inferential and criterial level the significance was t> 0.05. The arithmetic mean of the pretest was 8.1 and in the post test it reached 13.2 |
