| Abstract | This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of three types of glycerin co-product of biodiesel production in the washing process ex situ soils contaminated with diesel oil. The experiments were performed in a column properly designed to withstand the pressure oscillations generated by the injection of glycerol Gross (GB) of soybean oil Glycerin Gross residual fat (OGR) and purified glycerine (PA). The lavage fluids were applied in two different periods (A, B) of a Psament artificially contaminated with diesel in the laboratory in order to evaluate the behavior of the distribution of the hydrocarbons remaining in the washed soil profile and check the experimental conditions provided that a maximum contaminant removal. The amounts of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) before and after washing were analyzed by coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS) gas chromatographic. The results of leaching tests showed an excellent performance of these coproducts, coming to recover approximately 95% of the remaining HTP in contaminated soil and approximately 96% of HPA remaining contaminated soil, proving the efficiency of these fluids in the remediation process. The use of glycerin as a wash in cases of ex situ remediation fluid may generate economic, technological, scientific and environmental impacts. |
