| Abstract | El presente trabajo recopila las principales perspectivas del bufalo de agua como productor de leche y carne para la amazonia ecuatoriana y busca sensibilizar a investigadores, productores y la comunidad agropecuaria de la region a incursionar en la crianza de la especie. Se discuten aspectos relacionados con el origen y distribucion de la especie, las principales caracteristicas generales y fisiologicas que le distinguen de la especie vacuna, asi como sus ventajas en la produccion de leche y carne. Abstract The present paper discusses the main perspectives of water bullalo as milk and meat producer in the Ecuatorian Amazon and seeks to sensitize researchers, producers and the agricultural community of the region to invest into the breeding of the species. We discuss issues related to the origin and distribution of the species, main general and physiological characteristics that distinguish it from the cow species, as its advantages in milk and meat production. |
