| Abstract | In historical terms, touristic activity is a relatively new event, and has recently been considered worthy of expensive and serious entrepreneur projects, as well as in-depth academic studies. Tourism characterizes as a rich and complex phenomenon, bringing along a multidisciplinary and multi-sector field of studies which allow the approach of relevant themes, and which deserve academic consideration, as well as its importance and its effects on economies, environments, and societies. Its importance cannot be explained simply in statistics, but mainly in its unquestionable capacity of moving social groups and conditioning the territory change, ordering, and development, in aiming its realization. In this sense, we intend to study, in this research, the planned implementation of localbased tourism as an alternative for the development of the towns of União da Vitória/PR and Porto União/SC. The methodology adopted in this research consists of data gathering, analysis, correlation, presentation, and discussion; these data were gathered from primary and secondary sources. The implementation of the research was made by means of exploratory field research, application of questionnaires, and photographs in loco. At the end of the research we observed that is incipient in the area under research. By means of a set of related considerations about the principles and means introduced in this investigation, we thus try to present subsidies through actions which can be performed, so that the several local agents and may see in local-based tourism a means which is socio-economically, culturally, and environmentally able to constitute an efficient alternative, went it comes to development.
