| Abstract | This study focused on the use and perception of secure base in children of 3 and later 5 years ofage. The secure base can be defined as the exploration and proximity behavior of the childrentowards their principal attachment figure, which in most cases is the mother. These perceptionswere assessed analyzing the narratives of the children with the co-contructions assesments. Iexamined the differences of the perception of the secure base in 10 girls and 10 boys at the age of 3 and then at the age of 5 years old, in Bogota, Colombia. In the analysis of the narratives betweenthe differences of age and gender and stories, I found mainly that kids usually boys at age 3 havemore imagination for the stories. Also, I found that boys and girls at this age tend to solve theconflicts by their own. On the other side, at age five I could analyze that they often use theirmother as their secure base. Mothers tend to interfere more when their children are 3 years old andcooperate with pertinent questions and guidelines. On the other hand, the stories also had an effecton their narratives. For example, the story that was the hardest to understand and complete was heone referring that the kid cannot sit on her mom lap. And in the story of the finger in the bottle thekids at younger age solve the conflict by themselves and when they were 5 they had the tendencyto look for their mother. |
