| Abstract | Inventories are accumulations of raw material, components, work in progress and finished products that appear in numerous points along the production and logistics channel of a Company. These allow to the companies meet their sales levels, while representing an opportunity to control costs, quality standardization and decision making. The main objective of this investigation is set the optimal quantities of inventories and replenishment of goods with probabilistic demand within a company that markets plastic products. In order to fulfill the proposed objective, a comparison was made of the different inventory models to be applied, having as selection criterion the type of demand that present the key products of the Company. For the determination of demand, as well as their quantities; three types of products were selected, taking historical sales data. Likewise, different forecast methods were used, selecting the one that minimizes the mean squared error for the forecasted demand. The proposed model allowed optimize inventory costs such as: storage costs, deterioration, loss, preparation and invested capital. |
