| Abstract | This research aimed to obtain information about dairy psychologist’s practice in obese children treatment and verify how they realize the patients and their families. It consisted in a quanti-qualitative study did from semi-structured interviews with psychologists working in Franca, Sao Paulo State, Brazil. They used to take care of obese children 3-10 years old, working in public or particular services. Theory and practice it was related within a social, school and familiar context. It was verified that in general the children are taked care in groups, using the psychoanalytical approach in a multidisciplinary actuation. The most observed symptoms are anxiety, low self-esteem and an empty sensation. There are school socialization detriments, as discrimination and prejudice. Psychologists emphasize a mother difficulty for establishing limits to her son and a family difficulty for collaborating in the treatment. |
