| Abstract | EnglishThis paper analyzes the impact of consumption on the generation of greenhouse gases (GHG) in Brazil from 1995 to 2012 based on emission inventories and input-output matrices using the methodology of the subsystems or vertically integrated sectors. The results show that the "Agricultural and Livestock" sector and the subsectors "Agricultural and Livestock" and "Food and Beverage" were responsible for most of the GHG generation in Brazil and that the "Energy" and "Transport" sectors/subsystems should be prioritized both by the point of view of production as well as the point of view of consumption.The comparison between GHG generation by the sector and the corresponding subsystem provides a useful indication of what should be the focus of public policy to reduce the generation of these gases: production (is the case of sector "No Metallic") or consumption (is the case of “Food and Beverage” subsystem). In addition, the matrix of composition of GHG emissions by sectors and subsystems allows to calculate the impacts of these policies. portuguesNeste artigo foi analisado o impacto do consumo na geracao de gases de efeito estufa (GEE) no Brasil no periodo de 1995 a 2012 com base nos inventarios de emissoes e nas matrizes de insumo-produto usando a metodologia dos subsistemas ou setores verticalmente integrados. Os resultados mostram que o setor "Agropecuario" e os subsistemas "Agropecuario" e "Alimentos e Bebidas" foram responsaveis pela maior parte da geracao de GEE no Brasil e que os setores/subsistemas "Energetico" e "Transportes" devem ser priorizados tanto do ponto de vista da producao quanto do consumo A comparacao entre a geracao de GEE pelo setor e pelo subsistema correspondente fornece uma indicacao util de qual deve ser o enfoque da politica publica para reduzir a geracao desses gases: a producao (e o caso do setor "Nao Metalicos") ou o consumo (e o caso do subsistema "Alimentos e Bebidas"). Alem disso, a matriz de composicao da emissao de GEE por setores e subsistemas permite calcular os impactos dessas politicas. |
