| Abstract | The building energy demand is greatly affe cted by air conditioning systems, mainly during sum mer. The objective of this study is to define the interactio ns between urban microclimate, buildings and its air conditioning energy demand, by simulation of heat and mass transfer in the typical case of an urban street canyon. A zonal model is chosen for heat and mass transfer modeling. This approach, mid way between accurate fluid dynamics codes and simple nodal models, allows us to describe, accurately enough for buildin g energy study, thermal and wind speed parameters in the street. A coupled study of wind and natural convection in a st reet canyon is completed on a 28 days period and co mpared with experimental data. The consequences of heat and mas s transfer in the canyon on the heat island evoluti n are discussed, as on the building energy demand. |
