| Abstract | This contribution deals with the problems a researcher-practitioner faces when implementing learning environments and tasks. Applied linguistics does not provide all the answers which may be found in other scientific domains. The contributions of five such domains will be synthetized: humanistic psychology, emergentism, multilingualism, sociocultural theory and new multiliteracies as expected in this issue of FLuL. The aim is to show that, inspite of differing epistemological and methodological approaches, these domains are complementary and highlight facts that cannot be overlooked. Applying research results to new domains require adequate methodological monitoring. Implementing institutional learning environments cannot be done without accounting for the decisions made and therefore involving citizens, decision-makers and learners in the process, our assumption is that ideological positions are stronger when supported by scientific arguments. |
