| Description | Theoretical studies on electrostatic potential properties of graphene edges in terms of their shapes and functionalization under an external electric field were addressed by using the density functional theory. The shapes and attached functional groups of the edges cause substantial variation of their electrostatic potential outside the edges. The emission current from graphene edges is also investigated based on the Fowler–Nordheim equation, corroborating that the current is sensitive to their shape and functional groups.
