| Description | World-building is often framed as an iceberg, with a small visible tip. That metaphor doesn't sit right with me. It's not a question of deciding what is and what isn't visible. Better, I think, to borrow Philip Pullman's analogy of narrative being a path through a forest. A symbiotic relationship—without the narrative path, you are lost. A path with no forest surrounding it would be functional but utterly transparent, devoid of any context rich with texture or mystery. Book Name: The Advanced Game Narrative Toolbox |
