| Description | The discussion so far of the movement of transactions through the blocks of a GPSS model has avoided all references to the algorithm that GPSS uses to move transactions. This chapter describes how GPSS programs are executed by giving a precise formulation of the mechanism that moves transactions. The use of random number generators, functions, and a number of additional blocks is also discussed. These basic elements of GPSS are covered in sufficient detail to lay the groundwork for the development of complex simulation models.
