Social resilience of the farmers community to cope with climate change

Description	Climate change poses a serious vulnerability to the agricultural sector in Indonesia, where farmers community needs resilience to cope with the problem. We have identified farmers' resilience through in-depth interviews and participant observation. Empirically, in one village namely Nunuk Village in Indonesia there are three things, namely climate change vulnerability, potential for transformation and farmers' adaptive response. First, vulnerability is characterized by the occurrence of more than 20 years of drought and brown plant hopper attacks in the past 10 years. Second, transformability is indicated by the potential for transformation marked by agents of farmers who practice the principle of sustainability agriculture. Third, adaptability is characterized as an adaptive response to farmers community that is demonstrated through a mechanism of timing of planting rice collectively. There is a room for improvement, that the resilience of farmers community in facing climate change needs crisis management mechanism.
