| Description | This research aims to establish the feasibility of making concrete and mortar using industrial wastes such as Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) and Marble Slurry Dust (MSD) as a supplementary cementitious material. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) was partially replaced with fine SCBA and MSD with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% by weight of cement, both in concrete and mortar. Compressive strength of the concrete was determined by casting cube specimen of size 150mm x 150mm x 150mm with water to binder ratio 0.45. Whereas for mortar, cube specimen of size 70.6mm x 70.6mm x 70.6mm with water to binder ratio 0.4. The cubes were tested at 7, 21 and 28 days of curing ages for compressive strength of concrete and mortar and comparing the test results of SCBA and MSD with respect to the control specimen. This paper validates the positive effect of SCBA and MSD in strength improvement of specimens at 7, 21 and 28 days. Results revealed that SCBA and MSD can both be used as a pozzolanic material in concrete up to 15% and up to 10% in mortar. Book Name: Circular Economy in the Construction Industry |
