| Description | The objective of this paper is to determine the different properties of sand-replaced fly ash concrete and appropriateness of fly ash as a substitute of fine aggregate (sand) in concrete. A total of seven mixture proportions were prepared with different fly ash content (0%, 10%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, and 40% by weight) as a replacement for sand. Different experimental programs were performed to evaluate the characteristics of sand-replaced fly ash concrete. Results indicate that the mechanical strength of sand substituted fly ash concrete, is significantly higher compared to ordinary concrete and strength of sand-replaced fly ash concrete improves accordingly to the increase in fly ash content. Though workability is affected adversely when sand is substituted by fly ash in concrete. Book Name: Circular Economy in the Construction Industry |
