| Description | The fourth industrial revolution that is based on the combination of intelligent production systems and advanced information technologies, perceives the additive manufacturing industry as an essential ingredient of this new era. Its beginning revolutionised the market and provided development to various sectors. Following this example, the fashion industry saw in its implementation the opportunity to regain long-awaited innovation. However, after several approaches, its application has faced several obstacles due to the lack of materials, technologies, and research directed to the textile industry. Because of the difficulty in acquiring comfort and flexibility inherent to clothing, the fashion industry has advanced more towards footwear and jewellery with this technology, with annual revenues of 3D printed hardware, materials, services, and software used in jewellery expected to reach $ 900 million by 2026 (Smar Tech 2017). This study hints for specific needs of the fashion and textile industry such as components and procedures. Book Name: Textiles, Identity and Innovation: In Touch |
