| Description | Defining critical management and organizational research, on diversity or otherwise, is a daunting prospect, and in some ways antithetical to the idea of critique itself. Nevertheless, this chapter will consider common themes among definitions of critical perspectives and approaches to work, employment, diversity, and organizations. The chapter will start at the general level of management and organization theory and then move toward the more specific approach of applying critical perspectives to diversity and diversity management. Some illustrative examples of critical perspectives and research are also provided. Finally, the chapter will conclude with some reflections on the current progress and future prospects of critical diversity research in organizations, in part as a preface to the remaining chapters of the book, which will cover a range of critical possibilities in relation to diversity.
