| Description | This chapter presents general strategies for topic selection and several language teacher education-related topics based on the involvement in a large-scale project aimed at facilitating professional learning amongst college English teachers in China. A research topic could focus on how this kind of community can develop an atmosphere of mutual trust and negotiate mutually beneficial cooperation to overcome the negative responses to such challenges. Thus, one topic would be how to meet emotional challenges in an inter-university community of professional learning, and another could explore variations in emotional responses within this community. More topics related to professional learning within this community can be formed by shifting the focus from action research competence to collaboration competence or to teaching competence. Discourse analysis of interaction among community participants would be one method to explore this topic.
