Abstract	Au milieu des années 80, dans un effort pour remédier aux rigidités structurelles anciennes du marché du travail, l’Espagne a considérablement libéralisé le régime des contrats d’emploi temporaire. En revanche, rien n’a été fait pour assouplir la législation sur la protection de l’emploi (LPE) applicable aux travailleurs permanents. Il en est résulté une progression spectaculaire du recours aux contrats temporaires, qui est bientôt apparu comme un sérieux problème en soi. Afin d’atténuer ce dualisme du marché du travail, en 1994 et en 1997 l’Espagne a adopté deux réformes qui avaient pour but de réduire les incitations à utiliser les contrats temporaires et de rendre moins onéreux les contrats à durée indéterminée, principalement en abaissant les coûts de licenciement. Ces deux réformes se sont accompagnées de modifications du système de négociations collectives.
