Abstract	This paper describes a comparative study of the various color signals for non-contact heart rate (HR) measurement on a video sequence. The color signals include red, green, blue, hue, the principal components of the red, green, and blue signals from video data. Experimental results prove that hue and the 3rd principal component are the most effective signals for the HR measurement. Experimental results also show that the two signals behave differently to different lighting conditions. Thus, we have integrated the two signals and achieved an improved performance than those based on a single color signal.
