Abstract	“Technical textiles” is a buzz word now a day, it has wide range of applications, and in some cases it has completely replaced the conventional material. In recent years, researchers and industrial companies worldwide have been showing increasing interest in conductive textile products and textile-based composite materials. E-textiles are the prominent applications which incorporate the conductive yarn. Steel conductive yarn has been prepared with necessary characteristics using conventional spinning machines. Conductive fabrics with various patterns and weave structures have been produced on handloom, power loom, and braiding machine. The e-fabrics have been used to develop the varieties of new products. The fabrics have been evaluated for various mechanical and electrical characteristics to confirm its application in wide range of products ranging from novel apparels, handicrafts to e-geosynthetics. It showed good electrical conductivity along with reasonable stability especially at low voltage. Decorative articles, Flexible electronic name plate etc. have been prepared and displayed. Value addition to number of traditional textiles can be of great importance. The study shows that the conventional textile technology can be useful to produce the value added products leading to socio-economic development. The proposed application of the conductive fabric in geotechnical engineering field can enhance the efficiency of the dewatering treatment. This application could be very useful for sports activites, physical training espicially in monsoon.
