NDLI: Enhancement of photoconductivity and quenching of luminescence in poly(2,5-dialkoxy-p-phenylene vinylene) upon perylene derivative doping

Abstract	We prepared a soluble polymer-dye composite of poly(2,5-dialkoxy-p-phenylene vinylene) and N,N'-diphenyl glyoxaline -3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid diacidamide (ROPPV-PV) as a new class of organic semiconducting material that would be available for photovoltaic cells. Photocells made of the composites exhibited enhanced photosensitivity at 400-600 nm and 675-800 nm. The enhanced photoconductivity and strongly quenched PL were explained by efficient photoinduced charge separation at the interface between ROPPV and PV in the composite films. Formation of PV network is interpreted to contribute for electron migration to the electrode. More higher photoconductivity could be got by mixing PV and C/sub 60/ into conducting polymers.
