| Abstract | Summary form only given. High-power electron beams have a wide variety of applications including electron beam welding, electron-beam-pumped KrF lasers, and the production of bremsstrahlung radiation for radiography and weapons effects studies. One of the present research areas of high-power electron beam diodes is to develop an intense radiographic source with a submillimeter-diameter spot size with an endpoint energy of a few hundred keV. At the heart of this technology is the electron-beam diode where electrons are accelerated by strong diode electric and magnetic fields. To make an intense X-ray radiographic source with a submillimeter-diameter spot size, it is desirable to operate in a pinched-beam mode. To do this, it is necessary for the diode to draw enough current at, or below, the desired endpoint voltage so that the beam will be strongly pinched (i.e. V/spl Gt/V/sup t/). Since the SCL current is a strong function of the diode geometry and the critical current is a very weak function of the diode geometry, choosing the appropriate diode geometry is an ideal way to achieve this goal. Some preliminary designs that theoretically achieve this goal and available experimental data will be presented. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
