Abstract | This paper considers the traffic flow movement and dispersion at multi intersections in the urban road traffic system. The signal controller at a single intersection should control its traffic; moreover, consider the traffic among its neighbors. So the new fuzzy controller based on fuzzy logic and weighting coefficients is proposed. The fuzzy signal controller takes into account the coordination of signal timing between neighbor intersections. The weighting fuzzy module is developed to give the weights that the traffic flow at neighbor intersections imposes on the signal timing at current intersection. The fuzzy rules of the signal controller and the weighting module are produced by the traffic information with the vehicles detectors. The average delay time of a vehicle is used as a performance index. The parameters, that is, cycle time, green splits and phasing are optimized in the traffic network. The simulation results show better performances and adaptability in the cases of time-varying traffic patterns compared with the full-actuated signal controller. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
