NDLI: Mechanism analysis of forced power oscillation events based on WAMS measured data

Abstract	This paper applies the forced power oscillation theory to explain the phenomenon of two power oscillation events recorded by grid wide area measurement system (WAMS). By analyzing the characteristics of the recorded data, we have described the difference between the two events and the negative-damping oscillation events. Calculation and simulation have been performed based on the single-machine infinite bus system. It is concluded that theoretical calculation result and simulation result are in good agreement with the WAMS data, and the forced oscillation theory is able to reasonably explain the mechanism of these two oscillation events.
