Abstract	The low-cost time-division multiplexed switching (TDMS) based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel sounders can result in significant errors in channel capacity estimation due to phase noise (PN) in the local oscillators (LOs) as well as the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). We present a hybrid channel capacity estimator for such MIMO channel measurement based on the classical averaging technique and the recent moment method. Numerical results demonstrate that the estimator is able to consistently obtain the true capacity with high accuracy for various MIMO channel scenarios and measurement configurations, even if only a limited number of channel observations are available.
